POLICE are investigating ways of tracking all paedophiles convicted in NSW to plug a gaping hole in the child protection system.
The rushed review came after The Daily Telegraph revealed that paedophiles released from jail before 2001 roam NSW unmonitored because the State Government failed to make the child protection register retrospective.
One of those – a notorious rapist dubbed the Night Stalker for his attacks on boys, girls and women in the 1980s – has allegedly attacked again.
My opinion is that a paedophile register needs to be in force in every state and every country and backdated. Yeah it’s a lot of work… so what??? I believe our children’s safety is paramount, even it I don’t have any of my own. But Heaven help anyone that lays a hand on my nieces or nephew!! Any right these sick animals had to a private, quiet and enjoyable life ended the minute they laid hands upon their victims. It’s about time the rights of the victims far outweighed the rights of the attackers. *Climbs down off soapbox*

A good point indeed. In this country a few years ago, someone in Government made such a screw up, that some convicted people on an offenders register, were actually given teaching jobs in schools.
In some cases with the very type of children, they had a predeliction for. Sometimes it beggers belief.

agree 100%- it frightens me how complacent we can be when it comes to the safety of children
