Hi everyone,

Well this is my second attempt at a VLOG. I actually recorded this last week when I had just gotten home from the gym and was ready to go to work, after having a conversation with Coach about a Zen concept I had read about. I wanted to get this recorded while it was fresh in my mind. One thing I really have enjoyed sharing on my blog is the ideas and philosophies of my coach as they have enabled me to grow so much as a person and an athlete. I hope by sharing them, they will enable some readers to get some secondary benefit from him as well. I hope you enjoy this.

Here is the link to Davina Summers website. She is the cyclist I mention in this VLOG and one hell of an athlete!!

Love Rae xxx

Great Vlog Rae!

Even though I’m not an athlete I can put those principles to good use just in relation to weight loss. I still need to lose another 15kg so I need to SUCK IT UP for a few months and DO what needs to be done. THEN I can relax a little.

thanks!

Me too. I’m with Frankie. I have to just start sucking it up and stop whinging cos this is what *I* want. Michael isn’t forcing me to do it. Yet, he’ll tell me to do something and I’ll
whinge and whine.

Bit stupid when its something I want myself isn’t it?

More food for thought.

Btw where was Cheree this time LMAO

Love the “guilty” calls. Shows the truth and the struggle that all have. The rest was all great food for thought. Thanks.

In the average persons life I think there are seasons. I run longer distances and will, at the age of 48, attempt my first marathon having always done half marathons. However, I have times when I do engage in social events but when I need to I eliminate alcohol, and eat for the event I do so. So, I think for professional athletes what you said is true where they are competing in serious comps, but for the rest of us I think it is an ongoing process for the rest of our lives if we are serious about our health and looking after our bodies. This means we will always have times when we say no to certain social events:)
Thanks:):)

All well and good but Rae, there is no shame in taking a day off when you need it – pretty smart actually, if you ask me, unless you want to be taken out of the game completely by developing adrenal fatigue, and goodness knows what else. I think you have to be smart about it. Otherwise you will be spending your retirement in and out of doctor’s and specialist’s clinics trying to figure out why your body doesn’t work the way it should anymore.

Sue :) Speaking from experience!

I think everyone struggles Dave, it’s just that because some of us don’t constantly talk about how much of a challenge it is, it can appear to others as though we breeze through comp prep. We don’t, we just get on and do the work without talking about it too much. If you focus on the negatives, then you make them bigger and more consuming. Best to put your focus on the positives.

You are absolutely right Gillian. There is always opportunity for social occasions, and sometimes we say yes to them, but sometimes we have to say no because we have goals and achievements we are aiming for that are bigger than the social occasions. Cannot wait to hear how you go in the full marathon!! xxx

Good point Sue. I guess I can probably safely say then that I have never suffered adrenal fatigue or CFS, otherwise I am guessing that you can barely get out of bed, let alone train. As someone who hadn’t suffered this, I can say that I am probably blissfully unaware and ignorant on what it feels like when you are not in the best of health. The tiredness I normally feel is the normal feeling of pushing my body to it’s limits during comp prep. I can imagine that people suffering the fatigue symptoms feel like that before they have even trained?
