Loved this article on squatting technique. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard people brag about how much they squat then see them do a small bobbing movement instead of a real squat. I actually winced when I saw the video of the guy doing a squat!

I clearly remember the very first couple of training sessions I had with my coach when I joined up with him… vividly!! The reason those sessions are still so vivid in my mind is that the first couple of training sessions pretty much just focused on squats, and kept on focusing on squats until I got them right. At the expense of my ego, the weights were kept low until I had the technique right. I always say that when you train with my coach you need to check your ego at the door of the gym as you walk in. It’s not about feeling good about the weight you are pushing, it’s about training right technique. This involved my coach actually even getting on the ground to ensure my knees stayed forward as I came up out of the squat. You won’t find my coach on his mobile phone making and taking phone calls, or sitting on a fit ball texting someone or facebooking, and if your personal trainer does this, why are you wasting your money and paying good money for them to ignore you as they keep up to date on their social lives?! His attention is 100% totally on his client and I love watching him train someone new. He spends the whole time walking around them and checking their form from every angle, correcting when required. But I digress… back to the article below, it’s a very entertaining read:

If I Hear One More Personal Trainer Say That Squatting Below Parallel Is Dangerous, I May Just Blog About It.
